Cut

Cut by Patricia McCormick
Review by Paige G
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to other teens. Cut by Patricia McCormick captures the reader's attention within the first few pages because there is a captivating twist. The beginning prepares you for what the book is going to be like and it sent shivers down my spine. You do not only learn from the problems the main character has but also the issues her family faces at home.
The main character, Callie, lives at the “residential treatment facility” because her parents found out that she cuts herself. In her journey of getting better she meets other young women who are struggling with their own kind of problems. For me, at first, it was a little difficult to keep all the different characters straight with what problems they had but the author does a good job at reminding you throughout the book. I found it most interesting to compare the different characters issues and how they all deal with them. It can also be very eye opening.

Callie goes back and forth from talking to her therapist to the present tense. At the beginning it is a little confusing but if you stick with it then it will all make sense. I never wanted to put this book down because I just wanted to know what happened next. Would she get better? Would her brother ever be healthy again? Why does she cut?
