Every Day
Review by Hayden R
Right now, you are debating whether to read the book Every Day. Hopefully this review will help you make your decision. First, I highly recommend this book to anyone who
likes “light” science fiction with romance. This book does not have a slow start, and it will keep you engrossed the entire time with its originality and occasional plot twists. Though there are some unanswered questions at the very end of the book, they don’t affect the story very much.
The book follows the story of a teenager named “A” who has woken up in a different person’s body everyday since birth. (A doesn’t have a gender due to fact that he/she changes bodies everyday) Usually, to leave the person the way he/she found them, A would try to carry out the responsibilities of that person by accessing their memories. A does this to find out information about their friends, family, and/or daily schedules. However, A has never had a friend or family for more than 24 hours. This is because he/she never stays in a body more than once or later than midnight. Nevertheless, the people A inhabits are respectively close in location to the last person he/she was in, and are also around the same age as him/her.
One day, A wakes up in the body of a boy named Justin, a total jerk-wad who A finds out isn’t very nice to his girlfriend, Rhiannon. He/she feels bad for her and decides to spend one good day with Rhiannon as the perfect boyfriend. A realizes that he/she likes Rhiannon and is forced to try to convince Rhiannon of his/her situation. (I’ve already said too much!)
Every main character is so well developed; it’s almost as if you’ve known them your entire life. Also, the story is written in first person (A narrating) and this way, you really get to understand A’s thoughts throughout the story. Plus, the enormous variety of people A inhabits is a great aspect of the book that makes you want to keep reading to find out who he/she turns into next. I hope this gives some good background knowledge before you go charging into this book like you already know what’s up. 10/10 would read again.
