Keeping the Moon

Keeping the Moon
Review by Renee A
In the book, Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen, young Colie spends the summer in the small beach town of Colby. As she spends her summer away from her mother, who is on tour, she comes to not only know new people but she also comes to know herself. As new people come into her life, she realizes the true meaning of friendship and love. Going from being a lost teen as she first comes to Colby, she blossoms into a butterfly by the end of the novel, finding herself along the way.
This book is a mix between a coming of age story and a self discovery book. As a teenager myself I found myself relating to this book very easily, from the problems with her mom, to making new friends to crushes. I personally loved this book and I went through it very quickly. Sarah Dessen does a wonderful job creating characters that the readers can relate to. From the beginning to the end you meet new characters, watching as they grow and develop into who they are.

As I read this book, I really could see the story unfolding before my eyes. I could visualize what was happening as it happened, like I was part of the story. Dessen writes her novels very detailed, making the story even better. While some people may not agree with me, I am a big fan of Dessen with Keeping the Moon being one of my favorite books.
