The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Perks of Being a Wallflower
By Stephen Chbosky
Review by Yana W

The Perks of Being a Wallflower was a book that made me think. The main character Charlie, writes these letters to the reader about his life during freshman year. He gives you enough input into his family, friends and himself, but he doesn’t really say too much that you can figure out who he is exactly. I felt it gave me a good sense of how some people may be thinking during their first year of their older self.
The book made me wonder in the beauty of the world around me and a different side of a person whom I would consider shy or introverted. I knew that introverted person isn’t exactly a person who is just really quiet, but Perks of Being a Wallflower showed me just exactly how an introverted person thinks.
This book taught me that to know friends and to keep them you have to get involved and actually go do the things that other people are doing so you can know more then you do. Charlie had never had long lasting friendships and never got involved so he was more of a person who shows up to school and learns but when he did start to meet friends and got more involved in school events he found where he was supposed to be and he made really great friends.

I would highly encourage reading this book because it gives an insight of life and how teenagers think and what may go one in people’s lives. Perks of Being a Wallflower is a reflection of life and it shows that in a perfect picture. This book was fun to read and contains very different emotions.
