The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part-Time Indian

The Absolutely Amazing Book
By Justin M

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian written by Sherman Alexie was a book that had been recommended to me by a lot of people including my friends and even my teacher.  I am not much of a reader, in fact the only books I have read over the past 4 years have been for school so this meant I wasn’t thrilled about the idea of picking up a book.  Weeks went by and I had had enough of the people telling me to read it so I picked it out a started reading.  After about one chapter, I was hooked.  Never had I read a book that was actually funny.  The main character of the book is named Arnold Spirit.  He has some issues with his body but he overcomes them and is one of the bravest kids in his reservation.  Oh Ya about his reservation.  Arnold is a Native American and has almost no money.  He had never even been out of his reservation but he wants to be different from every other Native American.  He tells his parents he wants to switch schools to a more privileged school called Reardon and everything changes from there.  Overall, I highly recommend this book but if you are a girl there are some things you may find weird and disturbing.  But still I think you should read it no matter what.
